Indeed! To add:
a) A better tracer that improves sensitivity without the need to bring the bulldozer in readiness for a larger QUADRA, seems like a viable option to me. Thats sort of what Telix did by making a tracer available (even though they knew already that Gallium is second best, at best)! Cu64 goes in as a better tracer than the current best (Fluorine).
b) And, just how many QUADRAS can Siemens produce to satisfy the market? In Australia we only got our first one in 2023, and a 2nd, and a 3rd, in 2024. And they cost $13million each, versus what is already installed!
c) While large and busy centers will benefit from having these fast throughput scanners (10 minutes versus 30 to 45 minutes), smaller centres will probably want to keep what they already have particularly if a better performing tracer gets them the high quality images that others only achieve by investing in a QUADRA. That is, if a Cu64 'powered' QUADRA does not become yet another major jump, which may then create a gap in performance!
No old scanners were hurt, in the forward and upward rise of Telix: Chris (Telix) has shown the world how to utilize existing infrastructure (existing PET CT scanners) with Illuccix! (Apologies - I am not cross promoting). And he also mentions the market growth.
There is room for more than one, two, or more.
