Of course you may be right. We'll know the government's detailed position on fracking this week. However, Truss remains emphatic that she wants the UK to produce more of its own energy, and it would be odd to rule fracking out at this early stage.

But to say "the geology has meant a 100% failure rate over the last decade" is tendentious. Cuadrilla exceeded the deliberately unrealistic ceiling imposed by a LibDem minister of 0.5 on the Richter scale. Afaik that's its only failure.

So I think this remains a reasonable punt. But punt is what it is.
