What you need to remember here is that, according to the BGS records and their logs, Cuadrilla stopped fracking on a Friday without breaching the 0.5 limit that day (although there had been a 1.0 Ml on the Thursday afternoon), then at 22:22 on the Friday night a 1.1 Ml happened. Then at 04:01 in the morning on Saturday a 0.5 ml happened. Then at 10:01 there was a 2.1 Ml. Then at 07:30 on Monday there was the 2.9Ml. There was no fracking after Friday afternoon The logical conclusion here would seem to be that, even without breaching the existing 0.5ml limit (that they helped set but that you say is "unrealistic") on the last day they fracked, Cuadrilla were unable to control the induced seismicity over the next 3 days. This is why I'd be very surprised if they were allowed to frack again in their licence area unless and until they can provide the proof referred to in the Conservative Manifesto that fracking can be done safely. If the leaked BGS report has been reported correctly they can't do that. It would be electoral suicide for Truss to force this on local communities only to have a swathe of damaging tremors straight away, and even she isn't that stupid (I think).

Reffack Even a credulous anti fracking dogmatist could see that Cuadrilla et al had a gun held to their heads regarding the TLS. Fracking was stopped because the craven government of the time showed no leadership and buckled under the pressure from fearful locals who were fed your type of anti fracking BS. Most (Cuadrilla included) knew that the TLS seismicity levels were impractical and unfair. Fearful local NIMBY’s lost their collective minds not because of your “damaging tremors” (AKA micro seismic events), but because of your type of benighted fear mongering anti fracking propaganda. Inductive reasoning (as opposed to your type of subjective fearful nonsense) informs evidence and critical thinking in relation to fracking and the effects thereof. When you drill then frack 2km deep wells, axiomatically there may be micro seismic events. To suggest that these cause any significant surface damage only serves to feed into your fear mongering narrative. Prost SL
