I feel you need to do a little research into CuDeco trading on the ASX.

As an example, wash trades were a dominant feature of trading from January, 2010, to May, 2010, along with heavy Institutional churn, accompanied by strong net selling.

Price capping and the selling down of promising Announcements, featured strongly at a time that a Resource Announcement was expected.

Over this period 22.4% of the buying and selling that took place on the ASX didn't make it to the Share Register. This repesents about 13.9 million dubious buys and sells that were opaque to the market.
