ASIC imposed a blanket ban on short selling during the global financial crisis to ensure the fair and orderly operation of the sharemarket

So what they are really saying is with short selling in place we do not have fair and orderly operation of the sharemarket.

So I agree with the fin reveiws interpretation and get rid of short selling altogether to make markets fair and stable.
