I tend to hope people come out of things well.The only problem is that for the 4% shorting to go well the 96% that are backing the company have to go backwards.
I still remember the comments by the shorters after the jorc to the shareholders about CDU and WM.
I belive that the ASX stopped shorting during the gfc as it creates instability.(they know this for a fact).
The reason they do it other times is to create some turnover.
If the people and companies shorting followed the rules and bought back on market then its legal but if they can avoid going to market to buy they are not following the rules.
As hoots has explained they dont follow the rules.
So it should be halted on CDU and all stocks.
