Shorts and DT's undermine the 'essence' of what investing in stocks is about. Put in money to support a company, help em out, when they achieve their goals in a specific timeline you are rewarded with an income, or you can sell and move on. That's why the bots and HFT has got so out of hand and turned a lot of people away, mainly to fixed interest investment and/or property. So some of you can only blame yourselves for the markets' volatility. For me, when I look at the tax equation and the time it takes to try and determine movements in sp that have integrity, I conclude it is a waste of time and not for me.
