That won't make any difference now there are too many.
Animals will keep mating until they are pregnant, all you will do is narrow the gene pool.
The real alternative is what they current trying to develop for cats & cane toads is genetic manipulation so that only a single sex is produced. The species mate each other out of existence. Even that is extremely difficult due to recessive genes.
