For the shorts to cover there must be sellers.
Maybe the shorts have made a huge mistake and will be caught out badly. Why?
The register is tight. The insto's are not selling on a net basis. On the contrary they might be the buyers of the shorts during the daily churn. The retail investors seem to be robust and holding on, aka long and strong. Maybe, so many on the register can see the huge potential for dividends if/when SYR make it to full production of grahite/vanadium/other byproducts?
The daily volumes combined with depth data of buyer/seller orders could easily push the SP down dramatically like in early Dec 14. However, that tactic seemed to bring real buyers into the market rather than cause a seller stampede that the shorts need to cover.
It will be interesting to watch. The shorts that opened when the SP was in the $5 range should be comfortable, but the discomfort levels will be reaching high stress around the $4 mark and below.
This could easily be a fully fuelled rocket massively in the favour of the current shareholders who are long and strong.
Then again................ I could be completely misguided???
Cheers
