Report Confirms Citrofresh to be Effective Against
H5N2 Avian Influenza Virus
Citrofresh International Ltd has received confirmation of the efficacy of Citrofresh against
Avian Influenza. A report completed by The Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute (OVI) of
South Africa, has shown Citrofresh to be effective against the virulent H5N2 strain of Avian
Influenza Virus.
The result showed that Citrofresh effected a greater than 3 log reduction of the virus at 4 &
6% dilutions. In the opinion of Mr. Zoltan Nack – Senior Scientist and Microbiologist -
Analytical Microlabs, a 2% dilution of Citrofresh would also achieve a >3 log reduction of the
virus. This is based on the virology testing undertaken by The Australian Rickettsial
Reference Laboratory with Citrofresh on other viruses like HSV-1, HSV-2 and Herpes
zoster. This result is extremely impressive in that it is the first known organic and non-toxic
product in the world to achieve such a result.
The OVI is a division of the South African Agricultural Research Council (ARC), a semiautonomous
body created to improve the efficiency of research and other services rendered
to the agricultural community. The study and report was completed by the OVI virology
department which researches epidemiological aspects of viral diseases of Africa.
Avian Influenza H5N2, is one of the most virulent strains of Orthomyxoviridae viruses and
is as virulent as H5N1. A major concern of Governments worldwide is that it may
become dangerous to humans due to its mutation. There is a possibility that some cases of
human mortality have already occurred in Asian countries therefore the fear of an outbreak
