It is so shocking how the pilot got this so wrong---a beautiful aircraft has to be smashed by some student pilot type flying antics.
They had to fly it 10 hours before they had to land it---not many practice landings per hour.
In a former career I would have averaged 100 landings in 10 hours.
A no power approach in a large jet airliner seems unbelievable.
Fifty years ago when I was a student pilot we did glide approaches to help us with judgement-- glide angles etc. Also was supposed to help us with our engine failure--forced landing drill procedures. The practice was abandoned as being too dangerous--power approaches give pilots more control like wind-shear 100-200' above ground.
Felt for the Chinese girls in the back of the plane normally the safest place.
