    "they all need time to get their stories straight?"

    Well, yes. Sometimes airlines and aircraft manufacturers speak with forked tongues....that applies to civilian AND military, where the cause becomes "pilot error".
    The most clasic example was the Mt Erebus disaster, where an Air New Zealand DC10 slammed into Mt Erebus in the Antarctic on a tourist flight, killing 237 people. I remember at the time that they blamed "pilot error", in that they had a "white-out" and didnt see the mountain. Air New Zealand did everything it could to avoid blame.
    Eventually the truth came out....Air New Zealand gave the pilots the wrong coordinates for their navigation computers, that led them straight into Mt Erebus, instead of McMurdo Sound.
    The cover up failed.
    Cover ups have occurred on many occasions, till the truth emerged.
