There has been a jump is shorting activity - more specifically in the volume of non-aggregate short sales.
Note that this has no relationship to end of day total shorts. Ref below daily change in total shorts has no correlation with reported daily shorting activity (non-agg shorts). In fact total shorts reduced by 60k last Wednesday even though daily activity quadrupled to over 2m. Can only conclude that BOTS are at work and closing out positions at the end of the day.
Over the last 2 weeks GDX has increased its holding by 1.5m shares while GDXJ has decreased by 500k shares.
