Thanks bubwell,
Would be interested to hear of other possible future problems, however now that we've heard that the FLT has been given the go ahead, hopefully we'll now just buckle up for the ride. I too expected to learn of this through the asx. What's more, though Dr Bob Johnson is apparently in London (would think for business reasons - can't imagine him being comfortable being away from his love) a part of tyden's post informs us that work is already in action on the FLT.
Bob Johnson has been playing this very quietly over the past 12 months. Some environmental groups have CUY very much in their sights. The most extreme would see another trial mine as indefensible. Another position is that before any ISL begins, full public consultation is implemented and an Environmental Impact Assessment is undertaken. Regarding EIA, surely that is what CUY has been going through (already about a year's delay over original timeline) and would have taken into account the experience and mistakes of Beverly and Honeywell. Bob Johnson and CUY is under very tight scrutiny by some.
Apart from preventing careless destruction of ground habitat through spills (both Beverly and Honeymoon responsible for some dreadful past examples) there is fauna and various animal / bird habitats to plan for, monitor and protect. All that has been a part of the assessment of the Oban project. Also, contamination of groundwaters and aquifiers has been past legacies of ISL mines. However, CUY is in a tremendous position to take these into account and not repeat the same (?).
Finally, from memory Bob Johson expects the CUY trial to be proved after not much more than six months and within current cash levels (7 mill. plus). As a comparison, Southern Cross Resources (got the Honeymoon trial mine up and running) took close to 30 months and over $30 million....surely a great study for Bob. He seems to be the right guy to carry this out and it appears that the timing is great for us (ramp, ramp !...fingers and toes crossed actually).
ASX announcement or not, has been good to hear it from tyden.
Cheers, Furii
Thanks bubwell,Would be interested to hear of other possible...
