The Geraldton Iron Ore Alliance is confident the proposed Oakajee Port and Rail development in the Mid West will go ahead.
Some analysts have said the development is facing a 'slow death' as low commodity prices challenge the project's feasibility.
But the Alliance's Rob Jefferies says there is a strong demand and need for the port from miners in the region.
He says it is unlikely miners would consider leaving the Mid West based on a recent downturn in iron ore prices.
"Over last 18 months to two years there have been increasing levels of resource being found and identified and increasing level of interest in moving projects either in the Mid West or adjoining areas through our region and into Oakajee," he said.
"If anything we've had an increase in companies and an increase in drilling and resource information that says there's a hell of a lot of resource there and a good reason for it to be developed to meet future demand."
