In many situations extensional and additional discoveries are made once mining commences. Understanding of the system and controls on mineralization increases exponentially which leads to the definition of new targets and the recognition that some old targets should be bumped up the priority list.
So long as the IRR is good enough, 6 years is plenty imo.
