As always, Keynes is a good guide to market psychology: "We have reached the third degree where we devote our intelligences to anticipating what average opinion expects the average opinion to be."

If that's the market falling because of an election, that's what happens - until people start to reassess reality for what actually is. As in politics and gossip, there's a few voices that are much louder than others who set the agenda.
