Curtin Uni to move 60,000staff and students onto TechOne SaaS

Taking admin, student management to the cloud.

Curtin Universityhas signed a three-year software-as-a-service agreement with ASX-listedTechnologyOne to move administrative and student management processes for56,000 students and 4,000 staff into the cloud.

The university hasbeen using a number of TechOne’s solutions for almost 30 years, but deputyvice-chancellor (academic) professor Jill Downie told iTnews theshift from on-premises applications to SaaS will improve functionality andflexibility.

“The Universitywill be moving to the latest version of the application, enabling students andstaff to take advantage of the new developments available including the nextgeneration Ci Anywhere functionality which will transform our businessoperations,” Downie said.

While Downiewouldn't elaborate on exactly which solutions the uni is using other than CiAnywhere and TechnologyOne Financials, she said the completion of the SaaSrollout later this year will enable staff and students to securely and reliablycomplete administrative tasks anywhere and from any device.

And as theuniversity has numerous campuses in Western Australia and overseas - includingin Singapore, Dubai, Malaysia and Mauritius - mobility is highly important tothe smooth running of the institution.

Curtin’s financechief, David Menarry, agreed those capabilities will be a significant benefitwhen the university upgrades to the latest version of TechOne’s Financialssolution.

Student admittanceprocesses will also receive an upgrade, which Downie said will streamline entrypathways into the Curtin curriculum.

“The cloud-basedplatform provides the opportunity to respond quickly to innovative deliveryoptions in a system underpinned by good governance, streamlined processes andthe effective use of modern technology,” Downie said.
