I don't think anyone should forget the role that Australia's wonderful banks played in the downfall of Oz.
Were it not for these upright and principled institutions, Ozl would have continued straight through the financial crisis.
Ozl debt gearing was not all that high, it was the opportunistic and immoral actions of (largely Australian) banks, which brought about such huge shareholder losses.
