Vendor, standing your ground is honorable, but not always the wisest move.
Friend of mine had been drinking rather well and wisely decided not to drive home and leave his vehicle outside the pub. However, he unscrewed a couple of aerials from his vehicle that he was nervous about being vandalised, and was placing them in his car when a cop tapped him on the shoulder and requested him to blow in the bag.
He explained that he had not been driving for hours, had no intention to drive, and thus did not have to blow in the bag.The cop renewed his demand and told him he would be charged with refusing to supply a sample of his breath. He told the cop to stick his bag, and was arrested , charged with refusing, held in custody until court next day, and convicted. So much for sticking up for your principles.
Maybe if he had blown and argued the merits of the case later, he would have escaped a conviction.
