So you're not thrilled about losing 50% but are thrilled about the confidence.
This reminded me when Melbourne Football Club had Neil Craig in charge. They were getting smashed from pillar to post by other AFL teams... but he came out to the press and said... "They trained really hard...we have confidence in our team because they are killing it at training".
The issue is... training doesnt win games... beating competition does.
