Everyone should listen to the lithium guru Peter Oliver in the latest episode of Global Lithium Podcast where he explains why Lepidolite is unlikely to challenge traditional hard rock Spodumene.
If China could have used Lepidolite as feedstock for their converters they would’ve done so long ago. If there is a way, you guarantee the industrious and ingenious Chinese industry machine will have found a way.
The fact that they haven’t been able to use lepidolite due to its impurities as feedstock during multiple previous lithium booms, including this one, should be obvious that it is simply not economical or possible. You can guarantee that if they had a choice they would not be buying Spod at 8k a ton from PLS.
