Previous poster spoke of selling & buying back to claim tax; that was what I was replying to wrt washing.

As you say, if you sold shares you've held for a while tomorrow , there's no problem. If you sell a number of CXO shares this morning and then bought back same number this arvo, you might have some explaining to do? I'm no expert, but I wouldn't want to have to explain to ATO.

Been a few comments here today from people alluding to selling at a loss today, but buying straight back in. That is illegal, and the gist of my reply to old mate.
