4ds' main market differentiator and reason for building resistive ram in the first place was to "bridge the gap" between DRAM and FLASH.
if they're just trying to replace DRAM now that implies that retention is largely insignificant in terms of practical use case. which is why they're hand waving it away. cos if it was something interesting you can bet they'd be screaming it from the rooftops.

that fundamentally questions the target market here for me.

previously they were feeding into an untapped market, creating a market for a storage class non volatile memory.
now it just seems like they're trying to compete with DRAM, which even if the tech is novel and interesting and fast, unless its A LOT better than dram theres no reason for anyone to take a risk on it. DRAM already has a roadmap and a market.
