Exactly, high frequency trades arising from a sudden unexpected announcement and any other unexpected occurrence out of the ordinary will "guaranteed" to upset or "blow away" the 12 period cycle, or re-set it to another wavelength of another degree to render it totally inaccurate. So we can only wait and see.
JM Hurst in "The Profit Magic of Stock Transaction Timing" explained that about 30% of the stock market consists of random events which can upset the best computed cycles, but these effects are of an immediate or short term nature.
And I understand that many traders are expecting a high octave announcement in CEO to come out anytime :)
With a positive macd crossing in place, that's why a current "top" in the cycle is meant to depict a profit taking or slight pullback sequence- with pullbacks taken to be a buying opportunity at the next forecasted bottom, pending the "nice announcements".
