Ok, so the JTWC have altered their forecast track and intensity predictions (as at very early Monday morning). The latest forecast track now has the storm crossing almost directly over Cairns, however only as a category 1 system, the expected degradation of the storm has been more significant than first forecast. The biggest threat to the Cairns region still remains flooding, on the plus side, the less intense the storm the smaller any associated storm surge! To be honest, as usual they whipped up this storm with reckless language when it is likely to now be a rather insignificant storm system (historically).
