I don't know about his thought process, but as you can see from the PnF chart, $1.435 could have been called after the initial breakout.
On the PnF below we can see a bull flag. Target is length of flag pole added onto breakout point.
$1.44-$0.90c = $0.54c
$1.44+$0.54c= $1.98
So $1.98 target BUT $1.44 must be taken out first. Looking at the bull flag, I think it will make a good go.
