When i was on holiday earlier this year in Cape Town, Coal of Africa was often in the news. Until today i didn't realise the company is listed on ASX. The significant cultural heritage area nextdoor is a factor, but the big issue is water. The area is very dry and water is badly needed by those living in the region. The SA govt seemed keen to issue the mine with various licences. However, local people and enviromentalists came out is force to protest this mine going ahead. Those opposing put fwd a strong case and are backed by the media. Replies to SA journalists from CZA management indicated they doubted there even was a problem and seemed unable to comprehend how serious their opponents are. This is 5-6 months ago. I rate the chances of this mine progressing into production at 30% tops.
