    The NSW Government knew their case had no legs. They knew this when it first went to court in the middle of 2014. That was why they didn't lodge any documents to defend their case. It really was at that point that Metgasco had won their case.

    Had the government lodged their documents, this case would not have made it past the state election. Governments are meant to be "model litigants". They are meant to set a good example for all to follow. This whole saga shows a lack of character to step back and allow someone else to tidy up your mess rather than to step forward and to grow some shoulders.

    However, the fact that we are now past the election and the greenies gained virtually no traction from all of their protesting by way of votes, the government must give some consideration that they now have a mandate to get on with it and allow a lawful business to get on with it too.
