    Interesting read - thanks chief.

Thought I would hunt around for some coal/Botswana stuff.

Just to see what is happening on that front.

    -------------------

Nice article from Sunday about Botswana neighbors. Shows interest in the Southern African region by India - and explains briefly why they have been holding off from acquisitions. Claims the they were given rights for free initially - but CIL then paid big $$$ for whatever reason. A vote of confidence for the area none the less.

"Indian coal giant in Limpopo rights talks"

    http://www.miningmx.com/news/energy/Indian-coal-giant-to-buys-Limpopo-rights.htm

"CIL produces more than 80% of India’s coal and operates about 500 coal mines in that country. It has pushed its coal production up from 300m tons in the 2003-2004 financial year to more than 400m tons in 2008, but is under serious pressure from the Indian government to produce even more coal for the more than 20 new coal-fired power stations being built in the country. "

    -----------------

This one very interesting reminder - CIL again - I would like to see then step up for a stake in NMR! Imagine if they wanted 51%. NMR still cheap at a few cents a tonne (other factors aside - transport etc)??!!

"Coal India reverts to acquisition mode"

    http://www.dnaindia.com/money/report_coal-india-reverts-to-acquisition-mode_1635096

"Coal India Ltd is on the prowl for overseas mining assets."

"Despite adequate cash reserve, government control and oversight of bodies such as the Vigilance Commission and the Comptroller and Auditor General prevented it from making any aggressive bids for such assets and companies in competing with private sector rivals.

"These factors explain why Coal India has not been successful so far in buying any major coal assets overseas except two blocks in Mozambique."

This one on Nambia's increasing need for power also.

"Crunch time for power station plan"

    http://www.namibian.com.na/news/full-story/archive/2012/january/article/crunch-time-for-power-station-plan/

"The energy shortfalls were supplemented by power imports, but the non-technical scoping report of Aurecom Namibia stated that Namibia’s reliance on such imports poses a big risk due to the regional shortage of power and congested regional transmission networks"

Here's one all the argy bargy with Zimbabwe / Mugabe.
