It’s more to do with the chemistry of the Lithium battery than Lithium batteries as a whole. Lithium batteries can be made cheaper by using less nickel, however nickel added to stabilize the chemical reactions thus stopping overheating. I have been using Makita Lithium batteries for in all my power tools for 20 years as an electrician and have never had a problem. Also installed hundreds of emergency and exit lights that have Lithium batteries as a backup and not one has caught fire. If you buy cheap you buy cheap products you buy problems. Tesla use batteries in their cars that contain less nickel and look at the problems they are causing. Not all Lithium batteries are created equal. This battery technology has been around and proven for years and will be used for many more years.
