Mexican standoff between 11:00am and 2:00pm. There was no at-market buy volume at all during this time. The day traders started getting nervous with market close fast approaching, and thus crashed the exits soon after 2:00pm. This is all normal day trader and T+2 punter behaviour. They probably won't be back tomorrow, but next Monday you can almost guarantee that they'll be back! After all, they'd be expecting an announcement leading up to next weeks meeting!
