Regarding bots, algorithms, manipulation etc., I don't have any professional knowledge at all, but surely one can understand how basic manipulation could work to suppress a SP or move it in a way, halt its rise or decline for a purpose?

Yes I have seen it in action over a period of years on a couple of stocks where a bot is either accumulating or about to unload, just trading weekly. Just keep selling one share down after each trade or in the other direction till there is enough on the buy to unload for whatever profit is there. It is pretty obvious over time.
