Mining companies change their names to align with nature and direction of their business.During Y2K many mining companies became dot.com.companies . Sometimes new management like to get rid of old baggage by changing name. Even BHP changed its name 3 or 4 times. If my memory is right, FMG was a penny stock Anaconda nickel. Even twitter changed its name because the ownership changed hands!
