From my understanding, certain brokers allow trading with no minimum amount and charge a percentage commission (e.g 0.08%) instead of a flat brokerage of say $10 like Selfwealth or to some extent Commsec. While not necessarily manipulation, it is likely algorithms/bots buying at low numbers like this.
