The market got way too excited about inflation early in the year. I suppose now the market is starting to think that if all the transitory effects can only push inflation to around 5%, that's a far cry from the hyperinflation that was being touted by some talking heads on wall streets. So, once the transitory effects come off, inflation will crash down, so rates will not be going anywhere anytime soon (if ever). The Japanese and Europeans were stuck in negative rate territory pre-pandemic, and are still there, that's where we are heading in the medium to long term... IMO!
