For me, it's way too early to form a properly considered opinion. From what I've read, it's still only in the conceptual/development phase. This probably means it's a minimum of 12 months from launch which is actually a very long time in such a rapidly developing market (BNPL in the US) - by the time Apple Pay Later launches, companies like Afterpay and Quadpay will probably have almost twice as many US customers as they have today. My initial feeling is one of mild concern given the size and incredible brand recognition and customer loyalty which Apple has. The offset to that is the huge validation it brings to the whole industry (a point made by many others before me). The BNPL bears keep banging on about how it's a dud industry where no-one will ever make a profit and yet it is attracting interest from companies of the calibre of Apple. What this tells me is that there is significant M&A activity on the horizon (obviously all IMO).
