For me that's actually the main takeaway from the whole APT/SQ deal - despite the endless noise about PayPal, Apple, other competitors etc, those factors weren't a major concern to Square to the tune of $40bln. I.e. if they thought that current and new Afterpay users would just abandon them for others they would not have just committed to the biggest deal in Australian history, and a large deal by US standards also.
