I find a PayPal/Pinterest mashup so strange - I mean I’m sure there’s more to it, but PayPal spending tens of billions to acquire a company outside their core competencies of payments is a big risk. Are they trying to move into social media? I’d have thought their primary interest was in being the main payment processor for payments made on Pinterest, surely could have been achieved with a strategic stake rather than a buyout. Anyway still unconfirmed so maybe Pinterest organized an AFR-like story to get the stock going a bit haha.
