I get heavy boomer vibes from you man. if you think BNPL is going to fall apart then you obviously have your head in the sand. it's not a trend lol, it's just a digitally streamlined, cleaner version of laybuy and credit. there's really not much complication or difference from regular credit cards, just that they don't have the shit reputations of the banks and make it clear when you will get charged a late fee... oh and that's right, they don't have extortionate interest rates, making them a huge win with today's 18-40yr olds living pay check to pay check (most Australians of that age). of about the 30 people in my training room, all of them have heard of or used zip and Afterpay. of those that have, they have willingly paid a late fee and still stand by the system as being leagues better than our old school credit card companies. you're either here to help your short, or you genuinely have lost touch, like Warren Buffet has with digital currencies.
