Yeah I get taxed as a trader so if I take a loss this year, I can carry it forward to offset any future years "income" or any other sources of income this year (not just capital gain).
Still early days in this FY.... 6.5 months to go, she'll be right by 30 June, as long as I don't stuff up much more
