not sure it is that misleading.
i got zip ac in 2020, and I recall all it took was submitting some stuff over the net.
last time I opened a bank ac , I had to go to the branch and identify myself with various ids.
there is a point of difference in security which I suspect this is where the article was trying to go .... But it was a little clumsy in just targetting bnpl in the headline
