Why you think they only want to honeypot the longs? What if they are honeypotting the shorts this time? BOA probably shorted from 12 to all the way to 2, making 10 dollar profit every share. tanking the share and bankrupting it will only make them 2 dollars more. On the the other hand if they honeypot the shorts they can make way more money. After all we all know, in long position you can only lose the capital you invested, but in short position the loss can mount up to pretty much endlessly. There is stop loss, may be thats why they want to honeypot the shorters this time XD
Just speculations. No research or anything was done to support this post. So, I am not gonna debate to prove my point.
