If you haven't realised yet, Goodfella only posts snippets of information to support whatever the hell he wants to say though. This is well known about him, and the reason I have him on ignore.
Have a look at the bigger picture. 4.4% drop in retail in December 2021 is because people are doing their shopping earlier and earlier prior to Christmas. The previous months to December are higher.
October 2021: +5.2%
October 2020: +1.5%
November 2021: +7.3%
November 2020: +6.7%
December 2021: -4.4%
December 2020: -3.5%
Guess what? December 2019 was negative too! See the pattern? People are spending more before Christmas.. It all evens out; you can twist it however which way you want to when you just show one number.
You have a look at the pretty little graphs and see what they show.. a general UPTREND.
