my initial concerns after admittedly spending only a few hours research are;
market movers. slow to market, less efficiency/bargaining power at negotiating debt warehouse facilities, APt heading into Asia via Empatkali (which presumably will bring a lot more attention and investment than IOU), APt have a tried and testing platform and the data, spending behaviours and habits are very different to the west, regulatory environment, unemployment, debt to GDP, I need to understand the board and companies back history - I personally don't like companies who shift to catch up, as seldom do they work, unless acquisition is their play, as it seems they have a brilliant first distribution contract which could provide initial inflow. for me it's a pure spec play and my money for my risk tolerance is, in my opinion, best spent in more sure things or with those who are already showing explosive growth and have a MOAT. Qudian in China was raved to be the next best thing - QD stock price. sadly hasn't worked out to well for a variety of reasons.
in terms of the APT threat, if any, is that they can afford to enter, and withdraw if required, IOU I doubt cannot. they have made a loss year on year on only $6m revenue, have a negative asset position, minimal cash at bank($600k)$81k net cash flow. no debt yet, but imagine this will change... also I imagine acquisition costs are going to be huge, APt did several rounds of pre list funding etc, then several raisings after, so who knows how this will work. imagine it's in their presentations nonetheless. will need to see presentation but as I said, too many unknowns for me to enter, hence risk reward for those who brave it to deservedly reap their rewards.
I must admit I need to spend to thorough time researching, mainly the board, their focus, investors, Asian debt profiles and spending, demographic targeted, debt levels etc etc, however based on the above, and perhaps superficial, reasons. I didn't proceed further. I may look to enter once the company is in better shape and it's more tried and tested.
there may well be information that I have not understood or researched which may alleviate my concerns, so I apologies if any of my concerns seem superfluous. I am however watching with keen interest, but just not a risk for me at this stage.
just my opinions and dyor.
