.... bid/ ask.... ask = offer side. bid = bid side. if you are buying , you buy on the bid. The fact that you can bid through the ask is irrelevant.
i'm not sure how bid/ offers got all messed up in everyday lingo (real estate for example but those guys are complete morons so not surprising) but in terms of trading, when buying you bid. when selling you offer.
