sorry bro you're wrong on both counts. usd is the trade currency by default but any country or company can trade or borrow in what ever currency they like. and we've covered the commodity price piece... however iron ore is currently in a supply crunch for china specifically due to argentina mine disaster. cant just spirit up new mines or routes... also they've been driving the pricing up with stock piling. (think oil price going negative... it wont last and i made out like a bandit on that using currency indicators)
