Gillard's missed a trick by declining to meet with the Dalai Lama. What can I say? She has gone out of her way to do handstands for Bono and Oprah of late but casually dsimisses the DL as someone who come to Australia quite often anyway (doubt she'll be around next time to meet him). We are we so cowed as a nation, beholden to any superpowers that deign to notice us? We are stepping up to lead the world with a carbon/mining/disaster....tax, but we don't have the balls to tip our hat to China and say sorry, but we do recognise Tibet. Where has our egalitarianism gone? Lost in a world of political correctness, focus groups and advertorials on 60 minutes I reckon. What are the odds that Julia will manage to get married a month or so before the next federal elections. Shame on you Julia, go meet with the Dalai Lama - you might just learn something or two.
