Rockstock’s latest interview with Dale on Youtube is very informative. From Dale’s comments it seems that PLS wants to pursue a reduction in carbon footprint by adding value and reducing shipping of silica and alumina waste that constitutes the highest percentage of spodumene.
With the Calix venture producing an intermediary salt possibly SO4 it occurred that Lepidico could be a good fit. They are looking for a cornerstone investor to the tune of $40mil, they have a proprietary tech for SO4 to hydroxide that is significantly better in opex and capex to current processes( Loh Max).
Most spod operators produce Lepidolite as a mine waste and Lepidico’s main tech L Max would give this waste a monetary value.
Dale did say that PLS would rather stay closer to home when looking for other expansion opportunities.
