SA Premier Mike Rann says the incorrect disposal of waste at the site was a significant breach of the company's exploration licence.

"The mining companies, the exploration companies have to be good neighbours and whilst we're not the American wild west and we won't tolerate cowboys amongst contractors or employees ... we're suspending the drilling activities [of] Marathon Resources and we're doing so in the public interest," he said.

Seem to remember Mike Rann saying significant breaches of exploration licenses could lead to the exploration lease being cancelled.
